1. Last night something strange happened. Isaac woke up at about midnight because he was hungry. Link was in the crib with him. Scary yes but I really don't think anything bad would ever happen. He was stretched out right next to Isaac. I wanted to take a picture because it was pretty cute but I didn't know what the flash would do and it was too dark to take one without it. Anyway Link was sleeping like this with Isaac right next to him.
Okay now for the strange part. We've had issues in the past, but not recently, with the cats going in the crib but usually when Isaac is in there we don't have any problems. When I do see them in there I take them out immediately. I did this last night. I first took Isaac out and set him on our bed (he sleeps in our room for now). Then I took Link out and set him on the floor. He proceeds to jump back in the crib. He did this three times. Each time I took him out and set him on the floor. Finally when I think things are safe I start to nurse Isaac. Link must have thought all was clear so he jumped back in the crib... AGAIN. Smart cat. Go in the crib when I can't do anything. When Isaac was done nursing I set him down. Took Link out of the crib AGAIN. I told Dan to keep on eye on Isaac and I went and got the squirt bottle. I took Isaac in the other room to change him. While I was gone Link jumped in the crib again. Dan attempted to spray him several times (while he loves water he hates getting sprayed with it. Most of the time just picking up the squirt bottle makes him run). Link wouldn't budge. Finally Dan picked him up, set him on our bed and proceeded to pet him. That finally did the trick. I am pretty sure when we move the crib to the other room we'll be shutting the door when Isaac is asleep. Once Isaac was back asleep Link crawled on top of my stomach, curled up and fell asleep.
2. Sometimes I have dreams where I feed Isaac and put him back to bed. It can be confusing sometimes. This happened last night. In my dream Isaac wakes up at 2:15am to eat and I follow the same routine. I get out of bed and turn on some christmas lights (long ago we put these x-mas lights around the window in our bedroom. They've come in handy because they're just enough light for me to nurse Isaac but not bright enough to wake Dan up. Plus it keeps Isaac sleepy and he goes right back down easily). Anyway... as I am walking back to the crib (remember this is a dream) Dan says, "its time to eat already" and I say "yeah, I guess he's going every two hours tonight... but thats okay" I nurse him and put him back to bed. Imagine how confused I am when he actually wakes up at 2:45am... hungry and I think, "Dude I just fed you" I tell you... I don't know what I would do without my ap on my phone (which keep track of when Isaac eats). I did however go as far as waking Dan up and asking him if I fed Isaac at 2:15. I thought maybe I really did feed him but didn't put it in my phone.
3. Isaac is only half an ounce away from being 9 pounds! It worked out nice this week when the public health nurse came. He wanted to eat right after we weighed him. The public health nurse stayed and weighed him again after he nursed. This way we could see about how much he's getting when he eats. He nursed for less than 10 minutes and ate around 3.5 - 4 ounces. Thats pretty awesome. Once I go back to work we'll probably see the public health nurse a little less. We will probably go to every other week or once a month. It's been nice having her come because if there are any concerns than I can address them with her. Someone once asked me why Isaac gets weighed so often. When he came home from the hospital they wanted to closely monitor his weight. Remember he was only four pounds. We could probably do without it now which is why we'll probably go to every other week soon but its still nice to see what he weighs and make sure he's still on track.

I would hear Leo crying and wouldn't fully wake up, but would dream that I was nursing him. Dave would wake me up to tell me Leo was crying and I'd say, "I know, I'm nursing." Um, no. He's in his crib. You're in your bed. :)
ReplyDeleteI bet lots of mothers have dreams like that! Ha ha. I like Kim's dream above :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Link's deal is. Is the crib that comfty? LOL!
Cats are magnetically drawn to baby sleeping spots. I cannot get my husband's stupid cat to stay out of the playard. I don't know if he'd go in with C, though. So far he tends to avoid her pretty carefully and she hates the playard so he really hasn't had a chance to get in with her.
