Random thoughts....

  • Today we had a doctors appointment. It was a follow up for my genetic test and to talk about the "what if" aspect of Isaac also having Neurofibromatosis. It was a much better appointment than the last one. We did a regular check up with me. Things are fine as they always are. I have a minor case of the disorder. But its still good to check up on things just to make sure nothing changes. We talked about having Isaac tested and he has his blood drawn today. That was a painful experience for me. But it was probably harder on me than it was on him. We should know in 2-3 weeks if he has the disorder. If he has it. It just means Dan and I will have to watch for certain things. He might have a mild case, like me.... or his might be more severe. If he doesn't have it... well then the book is closed.

  • My father-in-law helped take us to the appointment. You might remember I mentioned that Dan was sick too. Well, his symptoms were a little a lot worse than Isaac's. He dropped me off at my baby shower. When Dan came to pick me up he said that he felt awful. He said his joints and muscles hurt. He had a bit of a cough and he sounded awful. When we got home he went right to bed. He immediately covered himself up with a blanket (which isn't like him). So I took his temperature and sure enough he had a fever. Classic flu symptoms. Funny. Considering we both got the flu shot shortly after Isaac was born. We were worried about giving him something. Yeah yeah yeah.... he probably got a different strain of the flu. Anyways.... He wasn't really in the mood to sit in a car for 3 hours (total drive time) and a 2ish hour appointment. So he asked his dad to drive us there. Dan still sounds awful but he only had the temperature for the one day. We suspect that Isaac brought it home. I think they technically had the same thing but that my breast milk made him symptoms less severe.

  • The baby shower was a lot of fun. I am silly and forgot my camera. But there were pictures taken and if I can get my hands on them I will share a few. It was a low key. We sat around ate some good food and talked. Isaac got some cool toys and clothes! It was a beautiful day. I did bring Isaac but he fell asleep shortly after getting there and slept the whole time.

  • Isaac still has a bit of the stuffy noise. But overall his doing much better. He's sleeping better at night. We still have to use the stupid bulby thing on his nose. yuk! But we did order the NoseFrida which will be here in a few days. Ready for the next cold he gets I guess.

  • We bought a shelf to put in front of the treadmill. I am pretty excited. Dan plans to put it up for me this week. I will be able to watch tv shows or movies while running. Which is going to make it a lot more motivating. Lets face it. Treadmill running can be rather boring.

  • Speaking of running.... Its been going okay. I do have the treadmill but sometimes I can go days without running. It seems that Isaac has a sensor. When mommy starts running... Isaac starts crying. Sometimes he's hungry (even though he just ate 1-2 hours ago) and sometimes he just wants to snuggle with mommy. Most of the time I can get about a mile in before he starts crying.

  1. I'm glad everyone is feeling better in the hamlin house! And let me know how that nose sucker works, I saw it when I was doing my amazon registry but couldn't get myself to buy it. It probably works wonders though
