Once I finished nursing Isaac and he fell asleep I did some strength training followed by some light cardio. I used three pound weights for my strength training. I didn't find the strength training challenging but boy have I lost a lot of muscle these last few months. I have a feeling I am going to be sore tomorrow. I am hoping I will still be able to lift Isaac tomorrow. haha! I mean the little guy is gaining weight like a champ. He's up to 5 pound 7 ounces now!
I also did some light cardio afterwards. I did the below the workout twice.
This was tough. I found myself easily out of breath which I am not used to when it comes to workouts. But then again even when I was running over 30 miles a week cardio work like this would poop me out some too just because I wasn't used to it. I was more excited for the run that I would be doing later in the day. I had to wait until Dan got home from work before I could do the run and I thought about it multiple times a day. I am so happy the sun is setting later these days because Dan can get home rather late sometimes. It was after 7pm when I finally got out there.
I had a loop in mind and I had no idea how long it was. I figured it was between 1-2 miles. It was a testing of the waters today. I had no idea how I would do. It has been several months since i've ran and over two months since I've done any form of exercise other than walking. My plan was to just start running and try as hard as I could to make it a mile before I went to a walk. I did just that. Once I hit I mile I walked for a tenth of a mile then started running again. I went a total of about 2 miles. A tad bit more. I think I will keep doing this loop until I feel like I can add another mile.
Overall I felt pretty good on the run. It was very tiring and challenging. Who am I kidding... it was HARD but it still felt great! My legs have lost a lot of muscle and I could tell they were really getting worked. I could also tell that my glutes were getting a good workout tool. They both will be sore tomorrow for sure. I did wear my garmin because I was curious about my pace. I knew the pace would be slower than what I was before I found out I was pregnant and I was okay with that. I will be able to get back to the pace I am used to. It really felt great to get back out there. I look forward to many more runs. I might need to invest in a head lamp though. As I build miles I will be running in the dark. Even if I try to run before Dan leaves for work. It will still be dark.
I thought I'd share my splits with you. You can find them below.
