Baby Showers

I never really got to blog about my first baby shower because Isaac was born just two days later. I had loads of fun at my first baby shower but at the same time I was also on bed rest. I had a lot on my mind between the lack of movement I had been feeling and thinking about my appointment that would happen just two days later... not to mention I had to deal with my mom continuously telling me to "try to lay down" or "get those feet up" In the end she was right. I should have been doing those things but it made socializing with guests, playing games and opening gifts challenging. I got lots of great gifts for Isaac, saw family and old friends, ate some tasty food and received a diaper cake... which while we were planning on using cloth diapers I always secretly wanted one. The baby shower was suppose to be in the Twin Cities because a majority of my family and friends live there but my Dr said no to traveling. A baby shower in my hometown was fine though. Those hosting the party had no problems with the location change so a week before the shower we were able to find a different location and contact all the guests. Everyone who said they could come (when it was in the cities) still came and it made me feel really special. Family and friends who read this... I never got the chance to tell you how much it meant to me that you all stay came. I never got any photos of this baby shower and I'm not sure if anyone did.

Gosh I think about that day... what happened just two days later.... the weeks to follow and a flood of emotions come back. I look back and I wonder how did I make it through all that. I wonder how I could be so strong. I know the whole experience made me a stronger person and a stronger mother.

A close friend of mine who also happens to be a co-worker had mentioned wanting to plan a work baby shower for me. Generally these kinds of things happen during the workday and while they are fun not everyone gets to participate. So the plan had always been to do it outside of the workday. She also wanted "baby" to be a part of it. So the plan was also to have it after Isaac was born. She picked a date and several other co-workers jumped on board to help plan the event and it was a lot of fun. Isaac came but fell asleep shortly after getting there. He pretty much slept the whole time. We talked, ate good food and Isaac got some good loot. There were two cameras at this baby shower and so I'll share a few photos.. or maybe a lot
