But how about some updates? Isaac had his four month check up. He is finally on the chart for his growth. He weighed in at 11 pounds 12 ounces (this was on monday so I imagine he is over 12 pounds now). It put him at 3 percentile for weight. Woot! He is also 24 inches long. That put him at the 13 percentile for height. In fact, he is now TO BIG for the preemie chart. So very exciting. He didn't really like the shots. But who does. It was a little more fussy than normal after the shots. These photos were actually taken the day before his appointment. I don't bring out the moby enough. I really should though.

We also go the go ahead to start giving him a bit of rice cereal. The doctor wants us trying in a 1-2 weeks. (In reality he wanted sooner but told us we could wait a bit longer if we wanted). The purpose of the rice cereal is to get him used the texture of food and to get used to eating with a spoon. Once he has it down they want him to move onto veggies. His pediatrician says that the amount of breast milk and the number of times that he eats will remain the same. We are hoping to give it a try next week. So this will be in addition to what he is already eating. Yes there will be videos and photos. The doc says that at first it won't go well and the rice cereal will get everywhere because Isaac will be trying to eat how he normally eats. By sucking. I was a little leery about starting solids this soon and especially starting with rice cereal, which has no nutritional value, but with the way the doctor told us to mix it really won't be a whole lot of rice cereal. 1 tablespoon with 3-4 tablespoons of breast milk. By six or seven months he'd like Isaac eating 3 meals a day in addition to his nursing. It's kind of crazy but he is meeting most of what the recommend before starting solids. He can hold his head pretty steady. He can sit pretty well in a chair unassisted for short periods of time. He hasn't shown much interest in food. Unless you count him screaming whenever mommy and daddy sit down to have dinner and stops when you pick him up and set him on your lap. Wowza! My little guy is growing up so fast.
Isaac loves to stand with assistance. When he's being held he hates when you hold him so that he's in a lying down position (unless he's sleepy). He'd prefers to be sitting or standing on your lap. He has not rolled over yet but manages to rotate himself 45 degrees and twist his body so that he's almost on his side. I think he is close to rolling over. He loves smiling but he hasn't laughed yet. Well, he it seems he might be chuckling softly/lightly but no belly laughs yet. I would love it if he would laugh but he'll do it when he's ready.
Something else pretty exciting happened. Isaac slept through the night. Wait. I think I maybe mentioned this already. He doesn't do it every night. But in the last week he's done it a few times. He can go longer stretches at night without eating. Many times he wakes up and wants to suck. I wish he'd find his thumb consistently already because once I get out of bed and give him his pacifier he's out cold again. He's getting better at getting his thumb. See below.
This weekend we went to see grandpa. My mom is out of town but we decided to make the trip to see my dad. He hasn't seen Isaac since Father's Day.
