Success and alphabet pal

Isaac does not hate my cooking. It's a miracle! I got an idea about making veggie bites out of broccoli, cheese, bread crumbs and egg from a friend of mine. I did exactly that but also added quinoa.

(before some go all, you gave him eggs and cheese... babies aren't suppose to have those until they are 1 or 2... I specifically asked Isaac's pediatrician if he was okay to have those foods before a year and he said yes)

They were fairly easy to make. I just cooked the quinoa and broccoli then mixed everything together. I then made little ball out of them and baked them in the oven for about 15 minutes at 375. Simple! Isaac was pretty excited and couldn't wait for them to finish baking.

Mommy.... I wanna eat NOW!
FYI- In the photo he's wearing a 18 month outfit!

I tried one myself before I gave one to him and thought they tasted pretty good. I gave it to him and he loved it.  This feeding thing is kinda fun. I was so worried. I guess when the a kido is ready... they will be ready.

Isaac also had some pizza today.  The baby shower was a lot of fun. Isaac had some bread and two small squares of pizza. He loved that as well. We had a little bit of a scare. I first want to say he probably would have been fine. But he started choking a little. He was trying to cough and couldn't. I had to do the heimlich maneuver. I belong to a Parents Group on facebook and another mom had posted a video of how to do it with a infant. This was months ago. If I hadn't watched it I wouldn't have known what to do. Hubby and I meant to take a class with this sort of thing shortly after Isaac's birth (well we intended to do it before he was born... but he had other plans) but never got around to it. Heres the video in case you have your own kids and want to know)

I followed the steps in the video and a small piece of bread came out of his mouth in about 15 seconds. What is strange is that I didn't freak out or get scared. I just did what I needed to do I guess. As I type this it reminds me of the time I performed CPR on someone. (maybe I will share that store another time) Adrenaline and instinct kick in. You do what you need to do.

Isaac's favorite toy is Alphabet Pal. I saw him playing with it at daycare so I went out and found one used. He seriously loves this toy. We brought it to my extended family Christmas party and forgot it. We had to go out of our way to get it. It has a lot of different settings. It plays letters, letter sounds, colors, and music. In all the setting it plays the alphabet song. My favorite is music because I feel like Isaac is too young to understand the other settings.  I will show you a picture of the toy so you will understand what I mean.

See the feet?  You probably get the idea with the different settings. Well... I think Isaac is to young to see that he's pressing "green" or pressing the letter "Q" most of the time he's pressing them without even trying. Anyway.  The other day Isaac and I had a few minutes to kill before heading to daycare and work. So I turned it on letter sounds. After Isaac randomly hit a few feet the to giggled and said, "that tickles" It kinda freaked me out actually because we've had this toy for months and it's never done that. Hubby and I tried to recreate it but couldn't figure out how. This is where google became my friend.... Apparently if you try to make Alphabet Pal swear.... he giggles and says "that tickles"  Hubby and I had fun trying to figure out different swear words to try.

I have 6 miles on deck for tomorrow. I will probably really run further because I am going to use the treadmill at home. I am anal and MUST run 6 miles. If the treadmill says anything different then I will think I didn't run that far. I would run outside but I don't have any winter gear.  I really wish the registration for the half marathon I want to run would open.  I know that once I am registered for a race then I won't slack on my workouts.

I know what you mean about eggs & dairy - I asked Molly's ped. about it, too.

I'm so glad Isaac is enjoying your food! Molly hasn't quite mastered the chewing and swallowing part (we're doing a baby led solids approach), but she definitely enjoys putting the food in her mouth & sucking on it!
